Oregon wide receiver Devon Allen has decided to forego his remaining college football eligibility to become a professional track athlete.

Allen represented the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympics and finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles. After Rio, Allen returned to the football program and appeared in three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. It was the second season-ending knee injury of his three-year career with the Ducks.

Allen had two years of football eligibility remaining.

Allen said he would remain in Eugene to rehab while transitioning into his professional career.

In football, Allen finishes with 50 catches for 534 yards and seven touchdowns.

In track, he won the 60-meter hurdles and 110-meter hurdles at NCAA Indoors last year. Allen also won his second U.S. title in 110-meter hurdles with a personal best of 13.03 seconds.
