Oregon defensive end Torrodney Prevot has been suspended for what the team has termed a conduct violation.

Per multiple outlets, Prevot is currently being investigated by the University of Oregon Police Department via the Eugene Police Department. According to the Daily Emerald, Prevot is being investigated after a former Oregon athlete claims he’s assaulted her twice this year.

From the Oregonian:

Prevot’s suspension stems from a “violation of University and Department of Athletics codes of conduct,” Helfrich’s statement said. “At the conclusion of the University process, his status as a student-athlete will be evaluated further.”

Prevot is a projected starter along Oregon’s defensive front. He had 48 tackles in 2015 along with 2.5 sacks and five tackles for loss. He’s played at linebacker in his career but was listed as a defensive end thanks to Oregon’s defensive system switch to a 4-3.

Oregon’s new defensive coordinator is former Michigan coach Brady Hoke. The team had its last scrimmage of the preseason this week and Hoke wasn’t too pleased with the defense when he was asked to assess the team. Oregon opens the season against FCS team UC Davis.

From Duck Sports Authority:

“This isn’t a good day to ask me that,” Hoke replied.

Helfrich was, true to form, more pragmatic about how bad a day the defense had.

“I think it is somewhere in between,” said Helfrich. “We weren’t very good today and I think that was a mentality more than anything. If I’m putting on my amateur psychiatrists hat I think they knew a bunch of offensive guys were out and didn’t put their best foot forward. Which isn’t good but isn’t some schematic, irreparable thing.

“We had a couple missed tackles, a couple guys late to get lined up. Kanai had a couple big runs, Tony had a couple big runs. They will crank it up here on Saturday next time we get going towards UC Davis and get that right. But as far as that I think it was their frame of mind more than anything.”
