'One of City’s greatest transfer moments'

We asked for your thoughts after former captain Ilkay Gundogan completed his transfer back to Manchester City from Barcelona on Friday.

BlueSue: One of City's greatest transfer moments. Gundogan still has a story to tell at this club. So happy to see him back.

Glyn: A wonderful player and a gentleman in every sense of the word. I had the great pleasure of seeing him snatch the title on the closing day of the season against Villa. A young fan, perhaps eight or nine, sat behind my brother and I, his face when the third goal went in will be with me forever. Complete ecstasy. He'll be blue forever, thanks to Gundo.

Josh: He'll likely be a bit-part player, but still a very useful signing, especially going into a season with more games via the new Champions League format. Even the first time at City he wasn't always a guaranteed starter and Pep would switch between him and Bernardo, so he'll probably support the youngsters like Doku, Savinho, Bobb, Lewis etc but still be important.

Chris: Best signing of the window across the Premier League, no question about that.

Carol: Really pleased to see Gundogan will again be wearing a City shirt. Brings a new exciting dimension to the team. Gives Pep more opportunities to explore playing roles.

Dylan: This could have been a coming of age season for Bobb, but with his injury and Alvarez leaving, Ilkay coming in makes perfect sense. He slots right into the team and knows what's what.

Usama: It's no secret we needed a central midfielder for squad depth. Gundogan has bags of experience having spent seven years at City prior to joining Barca so he will no issues with slotting in when required. Can't really go wrong with a free transfer. A long-term investment in that position will be required soon though.

Jill: This is brilliant for City. I was totally gutted when he left. It will be magical and feeling more confident of a fab five.
