Ole Miss quickly deletes 'You can't put a price on family' tweet

Ole Miss is embroiled in an NCAA case and its head coach resigned last week after it was discovered he called an escort service from a university-issued cell phone. All the while, the Rebels’ football Twitter account tweets on.

It’s been a rough time, so it’s not a surprise to see the tone of the account’s recent content. A lot of it has been rallying cries about sticking together and retweeting positive sentiments from coaches and players. But a since-deleted tweet sent out Thursday morning could have used a bit more vetting. This quote from interim head coach Matt Luke can be picked apart in many different ways:

Yeah, not great.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the Ole Miss case, the NCAA’s Notice of Allegations lists alleged thousands of dollars in cash payments and other benefits provided to recruits by boosters.

The word “price” was undoubtedly going to cause a reaction — which it did — and the tweet was quickly deleted. The account has been quiet since.

Reminder: You don’t have to tweet.
