Ohio State's Dre'Mont Jones ejected for targeting, pumps up fans on way to locker room

Dr. Saturday

Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones was ejected for targeting late in the first half of his team’s win over Michigan State, but still took it upon himself to get the crowd pumped up as he left the field.

As Jones jogged back to the Buckeyes’ locker room, he did Ohio State’s famous O-H-I-O signal to the fans.

Jones’ ejection came on a hit on Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke with the Buckeyes already up 35-0.

It didn’t look like a big hit, but Jones’ helmet hit Lewerke in the head just after the MSU QB delivered a pass. After a replay, the targeting was upheld, likely because Lewerke was deemed a “defenseless” player.

Because the penalty came in the first half, Jones will be able to return for the start Ohio State’s game against Illinois next week. If he was ejected in the second half, he would have had to sit out the first half against the Illini.
