Oakland Raiders Week Two: By the Numbers

Derek Carr spent his afternoon dropping dimes. In addition, Marshawn Lynch was bobbing to the rhymes. As rookie linebacker Marquel Lee said in a postgame interview with SI.com: “The crowd was turnt and we were turn because of the crowd.” Thanks to a successful Sunday, these numbers jump of the page.

It was a fantastic Sunday afternoon for the Oakland Raiders inside O.Co.

The buzz was aplenty and after a 45-20 shellacking of the visiting New York Jets, so were the numbers:

  • 0 — Amount of times Carr was hit. The well-paid offensive line keeping the well-compensated quarterback clean all day long.

  • 1 — Lynch TDs. His first rushing touchdown in Oakland as a Raider occurred at with 21 ticks left in the second quarter.

  • 2 — Jets turnovers. The first of which was a backbreaker (muffed punt). The Raiders recovered and, three plays later, 21-10 Oakland at halftime.

  • 3 — Crabtree TDs. The hat trick was something to watch for a wideout who turned 30 last Thursday.

  • 4 — Times the Raiders dropped Jets QB Josh McCown. Mario Edwards Jr. led the way with 1.5 sacks.

  • 5 — Pass deflections by Raiders defense. None more impressive than rookie corner Gareon Conley’s tip and swat down the sideline.

  • 9 — Penalties for the Raiders. Team totaled 79 yards on those infractions. Jets had five for 47 yards.

  • 43 — Yards Cordarrelle Patterson galloped on 3-and-1 for the score.

  • 45 — Point is most Raiders scored since 2010. It’s also largest amount of points Jets Coach Todd Bowles has given up in his three-year tenure in NY.

  • 58 — Jets third-down conversion rate. Raiders were 66 percent, in comparison.

  • 52 — Yards Jalen Richard sprinted on his scintillating TD run.

  • 82.1 — Carr’s completion percentage (23-for-28, 230 yards).

  • 2002 — Last time the Raiders started 2-0. Remember where they went that season?

Now, the Raiders travel east to battle Washington. Can their hot start continue, or will their NFC opponent find a way. These are the games that test a team’s resolve early in a season.
