Numerology can tell you if your relationship will last

From Cosmopolitan

If you're into star signs and astrology, you may have heard of numerology. Numerology attributes meaning to the numerical value of the letters in words, names, dates and ideas. Everything ~vibrates~ with a number, often linked to planetary influences and energy, including our own names and birth dates. We all have individual personal numbers, and these can help describe our personalities and life priorities, as well as examining the compatibilities we have with others. Especially in romantic relationships.

Read on to discover whether you and your partner are ~numerically aligned~ (or not).

Numerology is all about your life path numbers

The most important number in your relationship analysis is the life path number. This number outlines your hard-wired characteristics, traits and strengths which will always be present in you, and therefore are innate.

If you end up with someone whose number clashes, they’re likely to ALWAYS clash. So, you can make your love life flow a lot easier by hooking up with someone whose number is meshed to your own personality and outlook.

How to work out your life path numbers in numerology

The life path number is the sum of the numbers in your date of birth. First, add the month, day, and year together to arrive at a total. Next, reduce this four-digit number to a single digit.

For example: If a person was born on June 1, 1975 (me!) i.e. 06061975, add the month 6 to the day 1 plus the year 1975 arriving at a total of 29. Then add them together to make 11, and add THAT together to make 2. Therefore, I am aligned to life path number 2.

Work this out for you and your partner.

Find your own number below and see who your compatible life partners are.

Number 1

Pioneering, ambitious, bold and competitive. 1s can be controlling, and aggressive at their most extreme when they lose sight of others’ needs in pursuit of their own. 1s need a partner with their own unique skill set and centre that a 1 can respect and be guided by when they’re ~off on one~.

Compatible with: 1, 5, 7.

Number 2

Loving, supportive, compassionate and creative. 2s can become overly sensitive and insecure, because they are so empathetic to others and come to rely on their approval. Loyalty and affection are their fuel in love, they crave intense and intimate bonds. 2s need a partner who is strong and reliable and won’t abuse their kind, giving nature.

Compatible with: 2, 4, 8.

Number 3

Outgoing, imaginative, funny, quirky and charismatic. 3s are social butterflies and, as such, they can be gossipy, flighty and judgmental when they’re immersed in others’ business. They need a partner who is sympathetic and generous, to encourage them towards the ~good side~ of their personality.

Compatible with: 3, 6, 9.

Number 4

Diligent, conscientious, organised, intense, reliable. 4s can be intolerant and stubborn, at their worst, because their dedication and commitment to their ambitions can isolate them from others, making them too focussed on their own life path. They need a partner with a strong personality and sense of self, who can stand up to them.

Compatible with: 1, 5, 7.

Number 5

Freedom-loving, flexible, resourceful, charismatic and adventurous. 5s can be fickle, addictive and overly dramatic if they aren’t grounded or aligned with a life path that focuses their energy positively. They need a partner who is solid, strong and down-to-earth, to keep their feet on the ground.

Compatible with: 2, 4, 8.

Number 6

Caring, responsible, nurturing, protective and compassionate. 6s are perfectionists and can become overbearing, interfering and judge-y if they feel they know better than someone else. They need a partner who is independent, spirited and full of personality to prevent a parent/child dynamic emerging in their relationship.

Compatible with: 3, 6, 9.

Number 7

Clever, curious, analytical, technical and logical. 7s can be secretive, cynical and suspicious if their inquiring mind isn’t kept occupied, they adore conspiracies and can see patterns all around. They need a partner who is bold, ambitious and full of energy to bounce off and build a life with. They like to be entertained and challenged, they enjoy debate and discussion.

Compatible with: 1, 5, 7.

Number 8

Strong, driven, business-minded, shrewd and organised. 8s can be domineering, materialistic and intimidating in pursuit of their ambitions, so they need to find the ~heart~ in their goals to stop them going full-on money-mad. They need a partner who is grounded and kind, understanding and practical, to talk about their desires with and help keep them focussed on the ~heart~ of their goals.

Compatible with: 2, 4, 8.

Number 9

Passionate, generous, humanitarian-minded, altruistic and open-minded. 9s are good when they’re good, but really bad when they’re bad: vengeful, aggressive, unforgiving. There’s a ~switch~ in every 9, a trigger which turns all that passion the wrong way. They need a partner who is fearless and independent, able to smooth the rough edges and keep things positive.

Compatible with: 3, 6, 9.
