Northwestern RB Justin Jackson is 9th player to have 4-straight 1,000-yard seasons

Northwestern running back Justin Jackson joined some elite company on Saturday against.

Jackson became just the second Big Ten player and ninth player overall to rush for at least 1,000 yards in four seasons. Before Jackson, former Wisconsin running back and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne was the only Big Ten player to have such a streak.

Jackson had 31 carries for 166 yards in Northwestern’s 39-0 win over the Gophers. He has 1,110 yards and eight touchdowns with one regular-season game and a bowl game to go.

Here are the other eight players, listed in order of their rushing total, who have broken the 1,000-yard mark in all four of their seasons.

• Ron Dayne, Wisconsin
• Tony Dorsett, Pitt
• Cedric Benson, Texas
• Damion Fletcher, Southern Miss
• Dontrell Moore, New Mexico
• Denvis Manns, New Mexico State
• Tyrell Fenroy, Louisiana-Lafayette
• Amos Lawrence, North Carolina

Jackson now has 5,139 career rushing yards, which puts him a yard behind former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball for 16th all-time in career rushing yards. If Jackson can get 249 yards over the next two games he’ll pass former TCU running back LaDainian Tomlinson for 10th all-time.
