No one had more fun than Martellus Bennett during Patriots' AFC championship celebration
New England Patriots players are frequently derided for being robotic in front of cameras and notebooks, and some of them are. But tight end Martellus Bennett, whom the Patriots acquired via trade with the Bears in March, is anything but.
This season, he has professed his love for bacon, compared himself to Marvel hero Luke Cage, and said of the Patriots’ ugly divisional-round win against the Houston Texans that “an ugly date is better than no date,” among other colorful quotes.
So it stood to reason that late Sunday night, as New England players, coaches and alumni gathered on the Gillette Stadium field to celebrate the team’s AFC championship win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, no one would have more fun than Bennett.
After an emotional moment with his wife, Siggi, and their daughter, Jett, Bennett and Jett made snow angels in the red and blue confetti:
You go to super bowl daddy. Cooooool. I know my little monster.

He also did a lap around the field, skipping and waving his arms at the fans, many of whom remained to watch their team get the Lamar Hunt Trophy as conference champs.
And then came the dancing. Oh, yes – the dancing. As Whitney Houston’s classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” played over the stadium speakers, Bennett was with the Patriots cheerleaders, grabbed one of their pairs of silver pompoms and let loose:

When he went back into the New England locker room, Bennett talked a little trash about his older brother Michael, the Seattle Seahawks defensive end. Michael has been to the Super Bowl twice, winning once, but the Seahawks lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the divisional round this year.
And he shared his plans for the rest of the night: he wanted to make himself a cake and write “You’re awesome” on it and then devour some of it. Or all of it, which he’d feel guilty about.
But circumstances thwarted the cake plan:
We didn't have any cake mix at the house and no stores were open. So unfortunately I didn't get to make my "You're Awesome" Cake.

So, no cake, but the trip to his hometown of Houston for Super Bowl LI is still on. Pretty good tradeoff.
