No more QB issues for the Patriots? That's a bummer

It seems the New England Patriots will have Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett available this week, but what fun is that?

One of the most entertaining stories of the first three weeks was how Bill Belichick kept winning no matter who his quarterback was. Tom Brady got suspended, Garoppolo played well. Garoppolo injured his shoulder, Brissett led a 27-0 win over the Houston Texans. When it was reported last week Brissett hurt his thumb, it seemed like heat check time for Belichick. Could he win with Julian Edelman at quarterback? Sign T.J. Yates? Get Drew Bledsoe out of retirement? Let all 53 Patriots take one snap each under center?

Alas, we won’t find out. Garoppolo’s shoulder seems better. Michael Giardi of CSN New England said Friday it appears Garoppolo’s range of motion has “improved significantly,” and he has no issues at all on his follow through. And Giardi said the Patriots, who have started 3-0 with a revolving door at quarterback, have no worries at all about Brissett.

But I wanted to see the Patriots try to win with Edelman running the option!

Of course nothing is official because it’s New England and they don’t exactly like talking about injured players. That’s why it was funny to see beat reporters tweeting out video of Garoppolo throwing during the open media period, like it was Bigfoot footage.

So yeah, Garoppolo looks fine. He should start on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. And then Brady is scheduled to return next week against the Cleveland Browns. Tell Bledsoe he can stay retired and Edelman that his time as an emergency quarterback is over. What a bummer.
