Tennis legend Serena Williams is merging her love of sport and fashion to create a unique capsule of streetwear-inspired looks. On Wednesday, the 23-time Grand Slam champion and apparel partner Nike debuted the inaugural collection from the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC).
The six-month+ SWDC apprenticeship program unites a talented cohort of designers annually for the purpose of designing an incredible lineup that showcases their creativity. In 2020, 10 apprentices were chosen and this year, 11 individuals received the once-in-a-lifetime offer.
Following the first SWDC apprenticeship, The Swoosh converted seven of the original 10 apprentices into full-time employees. The second group of 11 SWDC apprentices were inducted in May 2021 with the goal of helping to build their careers as designers with Nike (or elsewhere in the design industry).
The line is a fun play on patterns, silhouettes and color. Williams attracts a lot of attention for her statement pieces on the court, so of course it's only right designers pay homage to that with a bodysuit, crop top, tennis dress, sneakers and more. New designs are expected to be added over time, too.
Available in both men's and women's sizes, you can shop the Serena Williams Design Crew fall collection at Nike. We linked some of our favorite items below.
