Nick Saban has been bothered by a hip problem recently and said Saturday after Alabama’s spring game that he wants to get the issue taken care of quickly.

Saban said that he could be sidelined for up to eight weeks, presumably after surgery. But he had a good sense of humor about the potential layoff and clearly wanted to make it known that he has no plans on quitting coaching anytime soon.

“They say that even if it’s the worst-case scenario it might be six to eight weeks,” the 67-year-old Saban said. “But I can still cover Ruggs and cut him off. I can do whatever I need to do, I can still play golf. But this has been a little bothersome and I don’t want to go into the fall with this being a problem. And I want to get it fixed because I don’t want to coach for one more year, I want to coach for a lot of more years.”

Alabama’s White team won the spring game 31-17 over the Crimson team. The White team had the starting defense and second-string offense while the Crimson team had the starting offense and second-string defense.

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, the Heisman favorite entering 2019, was 19-of-37 passing for 265 yards and a touchdown and an interception. We’ll also end this post by reminding you that spring game stats count just as much as the game does in the standings.
