No. 1 Star: Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning netminder had a solid evening stopping 34 shots in a 4-0 win over the New York Islanders. The shutout was Vasilevskiy’s first of the season and third of his NHL career. After a quiet second period where he needed to make only four saves, he was busy in the final 20 minutes stopping all 30 shots he faced.

No. 2 Star: Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning

Kucherov notched his sixth goal of the season on the power play in the second period and later assisted on Vladislav Namestnikov’s extra man goal minutes later. Four of Kucherov’s six goals this season have come against the Islanders.

No. 3 Star: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning

The Lightning scored twice in the second period in a span of 2:38 with Stamkos picking up the primary assists on both. He has two goals and seven points against the Islanders this year.

Honorable Mention: J.T. Brown and Ryan Callahan scored 42 seconds apart late in the first period to give the Lightning a 2-0 lead … Brown came within an assist of a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Did You Know? Tampa has outscored the Islanders 14-2 in three meetings since Nov. 1.

Dishonorable Mention: The New York power play went 0-for-4 … The Islanders mustered only four second period shots … New York is now 1-3-3 in its last seven games.
