NHL Three Stars: Tampa dominates Toronto; Elliott wins in St. Louis return

No. 1 Star: Steven Stamkos, Tampa Bay Lightning

Stamkos scored two goals and added two assists in a 7-3 drubbing of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Lightning were efficient in their attack, scoring on just 24 shots on goal. The 26-year-old Stamkos is off to a hot start with five goals and four assists in his first six games.

No. 2 Star: Nikita Kucherov, Tampa Bay Lightning

The scoring winger fired one goal and added three assists as his line with Stamkos and Vladislav Namestnikov combined for 10 points on the night. Kucherov hasn’t shown any rust after missing training camp as he waited to sign a new contract. He has seven points on the season to rank second on the Lightning.

No. 3 Star: Brian Elliott, Calgary Flames

Elliott stopped 23 of 24 shots on goal to help the Flames to a big 4-1 road win over his former team, the St. Louis Blues. The Flames acquired Elliott last summer from the Blues and over the last two games he has allowed just three goals. Elliott has a 3.37 goal-against average and .882 save percentage on the season.
