April 19 (The Sports Xchange) - Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason will not play in Game Two of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the New York Rangers on Sunday. Mason did practice Saturday but is listed as day-to-day. He also practiced Friday. Mason, the Flyers' number one goalie, missed Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers because of an undisclosed upper-body injury sustained last Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, when he was knocked over and hit the back of his head on the ice. The Flyers have declined to say whether Mason sustained a concussion. - - - Colorado Avalanche coach Patrick Roy said Saturday he does not expect center Matt Duchene to play in the first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Wild. Duchene, the team's leading scorer, has been out since March 29 with a damaged MCL in his left knee. Duchene, 23, led the Avalanche with a career-high 70 points (23 goals and 47 assists) this season. - - - The Nashville Predators acquired defenseman Jaynen Rissling from the Washington Capitals for a seventh-round pick in this year's draft. Rissling, 20, recently completed his fifth season with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League. He had 37 points (eight goals and 29 assists) and 105 penalty minutes in 54 games as team captain. - - - Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was fined $5,000 for spearing Detroit Red Wings defenseman Danny DeKeyser during Game One of the teams' first-round Stanley Cup playoff series in Boston on Friday. - - - The Tampa Bay Lightning signed defenseman Jake Dotchin to an entry-level contract Saturday.
