NHL legend Patrick Marleau's son came close to being kidnapped, according to his wife Christina

The family of NHL legend Patrick Marleau nearly had a nightmare of a holiday.

During a stay at a hotel on Wednesday night, Patrick and wife Christina’s son Brody allegedly returned to the pool to grab his sunglasses that he left behind, when a couple approached the 12-year-old.

Christina took to Twitter to tell the full story.

According to Christina, the woman of the couple started following Brody around, asking him questions and attempting to direct him to her partner, when another family nearby in the hotel noticed. The Headlam family from Louisiana stepped in before anything could happen. Hotel security and local officials were notified on site.

The specific location of the hotel was not disclosed.

Christina had a strong message for the attempted kidnappers after thanking Brody’s rescuers.

“Headlam family, thank you,” she said on Twitter. “You are angels on Earth. And for the scum of the earth that think they can pray on children…there is a special place in hell for you. And there are good people who will stop you.”

Thankfully, everyone appears to be safe after the holiday trip. Christina later tweeted that the alleged offenders were in security custody and an update should be provided after authorities reviewed the hotel's security footage.

Brody, 12, is the second of Christina and Patrick's four children.

Marleau played in 1,779 games in the NHL, the most out of any player in the league’s 104-year history. During that time he scored 566 goals and 1197 points, the overwhelming majority of those with the San Jose Sharks.
