(Adds late game) Oct 13 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights from National Hockey League games on Tuesday: - - - - Panthers 4, Hurricanes 1 Rookie Connor Brickley's first career NHL goal with 7:42 remaining in the third period broke a tie and helped the Florida Panthers to a 4-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes. Brickley was falling to the ice as he collected the puck in the crease and slid it into the net to break a 1-1 deadlock. - - Jets 4, Rangers 1 Goaltender Michael Hutchinson made 40 saves, including 20 in the second period, as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the New York Rangers. Center Bryan Little scored twice for Winnipeg, while right winger Nikolaj Ehlers and defenseman Mark Stuart also scored. Rangers' right winger Mats Zuccarello scored his third goal of the season. - - Canadiens 3, Penguins 2 Tomas Fleischmann scored early in the third period after Montreal twice could not hold leads created by Max Pacioretty goals, as the Canadiens beat the Pittsburgh Penguins. - - Sharks 5, Capitals 0 Martin Jones stopped 31 shots for his second consecutive shutout as the San Jose Sharks beat the Washington Capitals. Left winger Matt Nieto and center Chris Tierney each had an empty-net goal and an assist. Left winger Eric Nystrom scored an empty-net goal in the closing minutes for Nashville. - - Red Wings 3, Lightning 1 Center Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and an assist to lead the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Winger Gustav Nyquist and defenseman Kyle Quincey also scored for Detroit while goaltender Jimmy Howard made 20 saves. Right winger Ryan Callahan scored for Tampa Bay and goalie Ben Bishop stopped 21 shots. - - Stars 4, Oilers 2 Dallas Stars center Jason Spezza scored a hat-trick while goalie Kari Lehtonen stopped 26 of 28 shots in a 4-2 win against over the Edmonton Oilers. Spezza's first tally came 2:12 in the first period, his second came with 4:30 remaining in the third then he completed the hat-trick with an empty-net goal with 57 seconds remaining. - - Blues 4, Flames 3 Rookie defenseman Colton Parayko scored twice to lead the St. Louis Blues to a 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames. Troy Brouwer had a goal and an assist for the Blues, while fellow St. Louis right winger Scottie Upshall scored once. Goaltender Brian Elliott made 15 saves to record his second win of the season. Left winger Mason Raymond, center Jiri Hudler and right winger David Jones all scored for the Flames. - - Canucks 3, Kings 0 Goaltender Ryan Miller celebrated his 600th start with a shutout, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-0 victory over the winless Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center. Adam Cracknell and Alexander Edler tallied second-period goals, and Derek Dorsett added an empty-netter with 2:39 remaining as the Canucks (3-0-1) defeated the Kings (0-3-0) for the third consecutive time.
