(Adds late game) April 18 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Friday's National Hockey League playoff games - - Red Wings 1, Bruins 0 Center Pavel Datsyuk broke a scoreless tie with 3:01 left in regulation as the Detroit Red Wings took a 1-0 lead in the first round of their Eastern Conference playoffs series against the Boston Bruins. Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard made 25 saves while picking up the shutout as the Red Wings beat the top seed and defending Eastern Conference champion Bruins. Center Johan Franzen assisted on Datsyuk's goal, which came just after Howard made his biggest save of the game on a tip by Bruins' Milan Lucic off a shot by Jarome Iginla. The puck got past Howard, but he got just enough of it that it drifted wide of the left post and the Wings stormed back down the rink for the only goal as Datsyuk skillfully reached back to collect a pass and beat Boston goalie Tuukka Rask with a snap shot low to the glove side. Rask finished with 23 saves. - - Canadiens 4, Lightning 1 Right winger Rene Bourque scored twice as the Montreal Canadiens smothered the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven first-round series. After a scoreless first period, Montreal took a 1-0 lead when center David Desharnais scored six seconds into their second power play just three minutes into the period. The Canadiens took a 2-0 lead with 9:25 left in the period on Bourque's first goal of the postseason. Right winger Brendan Gallagher made it 3-0 with nine minutes remaining in the game before Bourque capped Montreal's scoring past rookie goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis, who had replaced Anders Lindback after Gallagher's goal. Lightning winger Teddy Purcell scored a power-play goal for Tampa Bay with 1:59 left to break up the shutout bid by Montreal's Carey Price. - - Ducks 3, Stars 2 Center Ryan Getzlaf scored a goal and had an assist as the top seed Anaheim Ducks recorded a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars to go 2-0 up in the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-finals. Anaheim rookie goaltender Frederik Andersen stopped 34 shots in his second outing of the series, while Dallas netminder Kari Lehtonen finished with 16 saves. The Ducks made the Stars pay on a short-handed goal in the third period and it turned out to be the difference. After a sloppy exchange on Anaheim's end of the ice, center Andrew Cogliano gained possession, passed the puck to Getzlaf and then scored off a return pass for a 3-1 advantage at 5:09. - - - (Compiled by Ben Everill)
