NFL reportedly says it is reviewing Jarvis Landry domestic violence accusation

Already this month we’ve seen one NFL star suspended for a domestic violence incident after a long investigation (though, it seems Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension may be reduced), so Jarvis Landry and the Miami Dolphins might be nervous to hear the NFL is looking into an accusation against him.

Andy Slater of 940-AM WINZ in Miami said the league is looking at an accusation against Landry to see if the receiver violated the league’s domestic violence policy.

“The matter remains under review,” an NFL spokesman told Slater.

Slater added that a source said the league has a video from the alleged incident. That’s a major detail.

Slater said the Broward County State Attorney’s office is investigating the matter. Landry was allegedly involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend earlier this year, Slater reported citing a Fort Lauderdale Police report, but his girlfriend was not cooperating with authorities and denied anything happened.

Elliott was suspended six games by the NFL, even though he wasn’t charged. The NFL produced a 160-page report after 13 months of investigating, and said it was suspending Elliott based on three incidents in July of 2016 when his ex-girlfriend suffered injuries after an alleged altercation. Elliott is appealing that suspension; his appeal was this week.

The Landry report comes after an uncertain offseason for him. Landry, a dynamic player who has 288 catches in three seasons, wanted a large contract extension before he can become a free agent next offseason. Landry hasn’t gotten that extension, and the team had to deny recently a report that it was looking to trade Landry. Perhaps that’s all related to the incident and the NFL’s review of it.
