NFL flexes Mahomes’ Chiefs vs. Wilson’s Broncos out of Sunday Night Football on Dec. 11
The Chiefs will no longer play the Denver Broncos on Sunday Night Football in Week 14.
The NFL announced Tuesday night that the Chiefs-Broncos matchup set for Dec. 11 at Empower Field at Mile High has been flexed out of the prime-time spot and will now start at 3:05 p.m. Central Time.
The Miami Dolphins-Los Angeles Chargers game moved to Sunday Night Football in its place.
When the 2022 regular-season schedule first came out during the offseason, the Chiefs-Broncos matchup had plenty of intrigue. It featured Patrick Mahomes vs. Russell Wilson and what appeared to be an improved Denver team under new head coach Nathaniel Hackett.
Fast-forward to late November and the Dec. 11 contest — the first of two this season between the AFC West rivals — has lost a lot of interest.
While the Chiefs continue to roll with a 9-2 record and three-game lead in the division, the Broncos have been in a tailspin and enter Week 13 in last place in the AFC West at 3-8.
The Chiefs will play host to the Broncos in Week 17 at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
