NFL betting: Bettors are counting on the Chiefs to fail to cover once again

Bettors appear to be catching on to the Chiefs’ struggles against the spread.

Kansas City has covered just three times in its past 16 games and enters Sunday’s matchup at the Tennessee Titans as a 4.5-point favorite at BetMGM. The Chiefs moved up to a 5.5-point favorite during the week but have settled back down to 4.5-point favorites as bettors have taken to the Titans.

Tennessee is getting 57% of wagers and 61% of the handle against the spread. And while a slight majority (54%) of moneyline bettors like the Chiefs, the Titans are getting 53% of that moneyline cash.

Bettors also really like the over in that game. The total has moved up a point to 57.5 as 86% of the handle is on the over. That money is from 61% of the bets — the sharps like this to be a high-scoring game, thanks to the defensive deficiencies of both teams.

The Titans-Chiefs game is the second-most bet game at BetMGM ahead of Week 7. The most-bet game is Washington’s trip to Green Bay. The Packers are getting a nice 69% of wagers as 8-point favorites but those bets make up less than half of the handle. Eighty-two percent of the money bet on the total is on under 48.5 and 85% of the money bet on the moneyline is on the Packers as Green Bay has dropped from -500 to -375 to win the game straight up.

Patriots getting nearly all the cash against the Jets

There are no big-money bettors on the Jets as 7-point underdogs at New England. The Patriots are getting 69% of bets against the spread and those bets make up a whopping 95% of the cash bet on the spread so far. That ratio exists on the moneyline too. New England at -300 to win straight up is getting 52% of the bets and those wagers make up 87% of the money on the moneyline.

Games bettors like to go over

Bettors are confident that the Bengals-Ravens and Eagles-Raiders will go over their totals on Sunday.

Nearly 90% of the handle is on over 46 in Cincinnati’s trip to Baltimore while 93% of the handle is on over 48.5 in Philadelphia’s trip west to Las Vegas. The Ravens are 6.5-point favorites over the Bengals and the Raiders are 3-point favorites over the Eagles. Bettors are backing both of those teams to win as home favorites.

Conversely, bettors really like the under at MetLife Stadium and the under at Levi’s Stadium. Just 54% of bets are on under 43 in Carolina’s game at the New York Giants but those bets make up 84% of the money bet on the total. The total is also 43 in Indianapolis at San Francisco in Sunday Night Football and just 42% of bets are on a low-scoring game. But those bets make up 85% of the handle bet on the total.
