NFL bad beat: J.D. McKissic's crazy dive into the end zone was a rough blow for Falcons bettors

The Washington Football team trailed most of the game, and at the end it seemed Washington had little chance to cover.

Washington, a 2-point favorite at the Atlanta Falcons, trailed 30-28 late. Kicking issues cost it points, and WFT bettors were well aware of the odds against them. Even if Washington won, it would likely be with a field goal. A 1-point Washington win would be just fine for Falcons bettors who had them +2.

Then J.D McKissic had an unbelievable touchdown.

In the final minute, McKissic got loose down the right sideline. He could have played it safe and gone out of bounds inside the 5. Or the Falcons could have tackled him. But he went airborne, leaping and barely crossing the pylon in bounds for a touchdown.

Falcons bettors still had hope when the play went to replay review. It wasn't obvious that McKissic got in the end zone. The play stood.

Had McKissic been stopped short, it's likely Washington — even with kicker Dustin Hopkins' struggles — would have set up for what would amount to an old extra point. But McKissic was in, WFT grabbed a 34-30 lead and the Falcons couldn't answer with a touchdown in the final seconds.

WFT bettors needed McKissic's touchdown in the worst way. Atlanta bettors were just left to rip up their tickets.
