Giants CB Sam Beal pleads guilty to pair of gun charges in Ohio

New York Giants cornerback Sam Beal pled guilty to a pair of gun charges in Ohio last week, according to NorthJersey.com.

Beal, per the report, was arrested last June near Cleveland, Ohio, after he was stopped for a traffic violation. He was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, improperly handling a firearm in a vehicle and possession of marijuana.

Beal pleaded guilty to the two gun charges last Friday, per the report. He has entered into a pretrial diversion program and can get the convictions removed off his record. He is now on two years of probation.

Beal did not play for the Giants last season, but instead opted out due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He made that decision just days before he was indicted.

He is still on the team’s roster and participated in minicamp this week. The Giants told NorthJersey.com that they are “aware of the situation” but won’t comment further.

The 24-year-old was selected by the Giants in the third round of the 2018 supplemental draft. He appeared in six games for the Giants in 2019, and recorded 26 total tackles.
