New NHL All-Star commercial goes Hollywood with Patrick Kane
The National Hockey League All-Star Game is headed to Los Angeles later this month for what should be a grand celebration: The 3-on-3 tournament on NBC, in a weekend that features the rest of the Top 100 Players of All-Time list being revealed.
Besides … it’s Hollywood! And when the NHL comes to Hollywood, you get “The Love Guru.” Wait, no, bad example … when the NHL comes to Hollywood, you get commercials for the All-Star Game like this, featuring All-Star players giving line readings that are slightly flatter than a pancake in the middle of an interstate.

Well, we’re just leaning into the Patrick Kane (and his, ahem, little friend) marketing now after those World Cup ads, aren’t we? But they probably have the same research we have on how fans feel about him.
Still, at least Kane attempts to do something interesting with his appearance. Every time Sidney Crosby is asked to do something like this, it’s like they have to edit out “OK CAN I GO NOW … PRACTICE IS STARTING?!” immediately after his line reading.
Congratulations to Anze Kopitar, who is statistically having his worst season in the NHL and is sixth on his team in scoring, but will probably be an All-Star given this commercial.
