The film follows the story of Rowland's character, a criminal defense attorney named Mea Harper who takes on the murder case against Zyair Malloy (Rhodes), an artist who is accused of killing his girlfriend. This will mark Perry's fifth Netflix feature, following projects Six Triple Eight, A Fall from Grace, A Madea Homecoming, A Jazzman's Blues and Don't Look Up. Six Triple Eight has not yet been released but is a dram that tells the story of the first and only Women's Army Corps unit of color stationed oversees during WWII.
