Michigan State goes Tom Brady route with video that roasts their haters and doubters

Michigan State men's basketball proved all its doubters wrong on Sunday when it was announced that the Spartans had earned a bid to the NCAA tournament. They'll play UCLA for the No. 11 seed in the East division and the right to face No. 6 BYU in the first round, which keeps their program's streak of tourney appearances alive at 23.

It wasn't an easy road for MSU. They had a roller coaster season with significant stumbles and brilliant upsets of top-seeded teams. But through it all, they believe one thing was consistent: Like Rodney Dangerfield, they got no respect.

Michigan State responds to doubters with Tom Brady-esque video

Making it into the tourney didn't make them forget that they were doubted throughout the season. They remember, and they don't want to let anyone forget that no one gave them a chance.

On Sunday night, the Twitter account for Michigan State's men's basketball team took a page out of Tom Brady's playbook. They tweeted a video that calls out those who doubted them in tweets and audio clips, followed by the announcement that MSU had made it into the tourney.

After Tom Brady won Super Bowl LV, he famously tweeted a video roasting his own haters and doubters.

Just like Brady, the Spartans think they're underdogs. And just like Brady, they aren't really underdogs at all. Their coach, Tom Izzo, is in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and has coached MSU since 1995 with no losing seasons and 23 straight tournament bids. Just because some analysts didn't think they were good enough to make the Dance doesn't mean that they're underdogs. That would be like calling Kentucky or Duke underdogs.

But also like Brady, MSU is finding bulletin-board material wherever they can. Remembering how people doubted them is great motivation for Thursday's play-in game.
