NC State, UNC, Duke football well represented as ACC releases all-conference teams

The season may not have transpired like they’d hoped, but coming off a stunning upset on the road at UNC in the ACC regular-season finale, the N.C. State Wolfpack found more to celebrate Tuesday afternoon with the release of the All-ACC football teams.

Four Pack players — guard Chandler Zavala, center Grant Gibson, cornerback Aydan White and kicker Christopher Dunn — were named First Team All-ACC for their efforts this season. North Carolina, with presumptive ACC Rookie of the Year Drake Maye (that will be announced Wednesday), placed three players on the first team this season: Maye, receiver Josh Downs and linebacker Cedric Gray.

Duke, with its surprise run to an eight-win (so far) season, placed one player — tackle Graham Barton — on the first team. Riley Leonard, considered by most to be the catalyst of Duke’s turnaround season, earned honorable mention honors behind Maye, second-team QB Jordan Travis of Florida State and third-team QB Sam Hartman of Wake Forest.

Two Wolfpack defenders, Tanner Ingle and Drake Thomas, earned second-team accolades, and another N.C. State defender, Cory Durden, made the third-team.

Downs made the list a second time for UNC as the second-team “all-purpose” player, and he was joined by defensive back Storm Duck.

The ACC panel tasked with selecting the teams consists of coaches, broadcasters and selected media covering each team.

Here are the complete lists:
