NBA unveils bubble arena with Black Lives Matter court, socially distanced benches

Players and media have been giving glimpses inside the NBA bubble.

Now the league has unveiled the hub of the action, its primary arena setup and the Black Lives Matter court where games will be played. The league provided a tour of the facility Tuesday morning to onsite media, some of whom shared video and images.

Images shared by ESPN’s Malika Andrews show the “Black Lives Matter”-emblazoned court surrounded by video boards. Players will sit on socially distanced benches spaced out on three rows.

It’s jarring to not see a space for fans to sit. Here’s guessing the massive video boards will play a part in recreating the fan experience.

The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn provided a walking tour down the sideline and baseline and a 360-degree perspective from the court.

The NBA then shared closeup, sideline and halfcourt images.

The bubble league begins amid great scrutiny on July 30 with the Utah Jazz taking on the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers facing off with the Clippers. The NBA will look like it’s never looked before.

So far the COVID-19 news is good, with the league reporting on Monday zero cases among 346 players tested.
