NBA playoffs: Suns reserve Cam Johnson out for Game 6 with non-COVID illness

With a trip to the NBA Finals on the line, the Phoenix Suns will be without one of their most important players off the bench.

Suns forward Cam Johnson is out for Game 6 of the Western Conference finals with a non-COVID-19 illness, the team announced before Wednesday's game.

Johnson averaged 9.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game while shooting 34.9% from 3-point range during the regular season, but has come on strong during the Suns' series against the Clippers. He's scored in double digits in four of his last five games, including 14 points in Game 5.

Per NBA lineup data, Johnson appears in seven of the Suns' 10 most used lineups in the playoffs.

Clippers still without Kawhi Leonard, others

Even without Johnson, the Suns remain in a much better position health-wise than the Clippers.

Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported Wednesday that Clippers star Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out for the rest of the series (though he could return for the NBA Finals). Starting center Serge Ibaka is also out for the remainder of the postseason, while No. 2 big man Ivica Zubac was ruled out for Game 6 with a right MCL sprain.
