EA Sports announced a new feature included in “NBA Live 19” on Friday.
For the first time, users will be able to create female players in “Create-A-Player” mode when the game hits stores on Sept. 7.
EA offered a sneak peak in a new trailer starring WNBA star Candace Parker.
EA Sports: An “important step”
In last year’s game, NBA Live included the full roster of WNBA talent in the game’s franchise mode, a first for any basketball video game. For the latest edition of the game, EA felt it was important to take yet another step toward including female players.
“The inclusion of female players is an important step toward leveling the playing field, providing gamers increased opportunities to express their unique individuality and create a reflection of themselves while competing in the game,” an EA Sports press release said.
Users will be able to scan their faces using the NBA Live app to import themselves into the game. On top of that, the game includes “Icon Abilities modeled after some of the greatest female ballers of all time, including Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne and Brittney Griner.”
