NBA legend Jerry West, a.k.a The Logo, 'doing well' after hospitalization
NBA legend Jerry West, whose silhouette and playmaking prowess inspired the league’s logo, was hospitalized Tuesday following a health scare at a Los Angeles country club, according to reports.
The 78-year-old Hall of Famer was released on Wednesday and is “doing well,” reports said.
TMZ Sports first reported the incident, citing sources who said West either collapsed or fell, and CSN Bay Area confirmed he “tumbled” on a visit to the country club, requiring medical attention. Paramedics reportedly took West to the hospital for tests before his release less than 24 hours later.

West made the All-Star team in each of his 14 seasons on the L.A. Lakers, winning a championship in the 1971-72 season. A two-time NBA Executive of the Year, he served as a scout, coach and general manager for the Lakers, helping lay the foundation for the franchise’s dynasties of the 1980s and early 2000s. West has served as an executive board member for the Golden State Warriors since 2011.
“Johnnie [West] said his dad is doing well,” Steve Kerr told reporters from practice on Wednesday after speaking with one of West’s five sons. “That’s great news. We don’t have any details except that he’s doing fine.”
After speaking with West’s wife, Karen, Warriors spokesman Raymond Ridder reiterated to CSN Bay Area, “He’s at home and doing well.” That’s refreshing news for one of the game’s greatest icons.
