James Harden available to make Nets debut Saturday vs. Magic

James Harden is available to make his Brooklyn Nets debut Saturday night, the team announced.

The Nets (7-6) host the Orlando Magic. Harden was listed as questionable heading into the contest.

His availability is due to the completion of the four-team trade that brought him from the Houston Rockets to Brooklyn.

Victor Oladipo went from the Indiana Pacers to the Rockets while the Pacers netted Caris LeVert and extra cash from the Nets. The Packers also got a future second-round pick from the Rockets and a future second-round pick from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Harden addressed the media as a Brooklyn Net for the first time on Friday. The Nets last played Friday night hours after news of the blockbuster trade broke. He said he wasn’t disrespectful to anyone in Houston after telling reporters less than 24 hours before the trade the Rockets just aren’t “good enough.”

Kyrie Irving is still not with the Nets as he completes COVID-19 health and safety protocols. He will miss his sixth game, the first five of which were for “personal reasons.” The NBA fined him $50,000 after a video of him maskless at a party circulated around social media this week.

The Brooklyn Big 3 debut of Harden, Irving and Kevin Durant will still have to wait.
