Bucks offering COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible fans attending May 2 game

The Milwaukee Bucks are stepping up to help more people get the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Tuesday, the Bucks announced that they've partnered with the Milwaukee Health Department to offer the vaccine to all fans 16 and over who attend Sunday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. The mobile vaccine clinic will be administering the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, which requires a second dose a month later to be fully effective.

The clinic will be set up inside the Bucks' arena, the Fiserv Forum, and it will take an estimated 20-30 minutes to go through the complete process: a formal sign-up, actually receiving the vaccine and waiting 15 minutes after the vaccine is administered. No appointment is required to receive the first dose at the game, and Milwaukee Health Department officials will be on hand to schedule appointments to receive the second dose.

The mobile vaccine clinic will be open starting at 1 p.m. on game day, giving fans plenty of time before the 2:30 p.m. tip-off to get their vaccine, grab some snacks and head to their seat. The clinic will stay open until the end of the game.

“We strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated and are pleased to team with the Milwaukee Health Department to give fans this easy and convenient opportunity,” Bucks president Peter Feigin said via the team website. “This is a critical time for all of us to take the necessary step that will help return our lives to normal. Let’s make this happen together.”

The Bucks aren't the only team to offer on-site vaccinations during games. The New Orleans Pelicans partnered with Ochsner Health, a local not-for-profit health care system, to run vaccine clinics during several games at the Smoothie King Center. They've already had two, and additional clinics are scheduled for May 3, May 4 and May 16.
