Nashville Predators: 2 Disastrous Offensive Stats Through 20 Games

The concern is growing more and more after every bad loss the Nashville Predators have as the team sits 31st in the league and has just six wins through 20 games. Even more disturbing is the offensive production being put out as it is the main reason for the horrible start.

There are two disastrous offensive stats during this poor start that need highlighting in particular though. The Predators have scored two or fewer goals in 12 of their 20 games (60%) and have been shut out four times (20%).

The Predators are dead last in the league in goals per game with just 2.30 with the roster that they have. Filip Forsberg leads the team with eight goals and 15 points, and while the goal total is solid so far despite what the rest of his team is doing, the points pace is a drop-off even though he is the least of Nashville's worries this season.

Forsberg, Gustav Nyquist, Brady Skjei, and Luke Evangelista (rookie season) are all coming off of career years while Roman Josi (85 points), Steven Stamkos (81 points), Jonathan Marchessault (69 points), and Ryan O'Reilly (69 points) all had high totals close to their career highs.

Nobody is on pace to match what they did last season. While it's normal that some players improve and others decline from season to season, everybody falling off is a huge problem and why the Predators are in so much trouble.

What is even worse is Juuse Saros' numbers have improved from his fifth place finish in Vezina Trophy voting from last season and the Predators can't do anything with it. He is coming off a great outing where Nashville got shut out by the Seattle Kraken, but he has two shutouts himself, willing his team to win if they can just provide a little bit of scoring.

Something has to be done in Nashville soon as the longer this goes on, the quicker the year in which the team had big expectations is going to go down the drain.
