How much rain and snow fell in Sacramento and Tahoe this weekend — and what’s next?

After a rainy, gloomy weekend, Sacramento will see more sun this week.

In the past 48 hours, the Sacramento Executive Airport area received about 0.45 inches of rain, said Chelsea Peters, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Roseville got around 0.28 to 0.44 inches and the Folsom area received 0.43 to 0.59 inches.

Between Saturday and Sunday, downtown Sacramento recorded about 0.25 inches of precipitation.

For the majority of the week, residents can expect drier weather and clearer skies after some patchy frost in the mornings.

Monday will be sunny with a high near 59 and a low around 36. There may be wind gusts up to 21 mph. Tuesday’s high is near 56 with a low around 36.

For the following days, expect:

  • Wednesday’s high at about 62, low about 37

  • Thursday’s high at around 62, low near 39

  • Friday’s high near 60, low about 40

  • Saturday’s high near 59, low near 39

Recent snowfall

A hefty spell of snow fell in the Sierra, too.

According to a weather service snow report Monday, about 19 inches had fallen in the past 48 hours at Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort and about 21 inches at the Sierra Snow Lab.

Homewood Ski got the most snow in the Greater Lake Tahoe area with 30 inches. Heavenly Ski and Tahoe City got the least with 16 inches.

There is no rain or snow in the seven-day forecast for Sacramento or Tahoe.
