Who was the MS Coast’s best high school softball player for the 2023 season? Vote now.

South Mississippi was again home to plenty of talented softball players this season, seniors and underclassmen alike, and fans have an opportunity to vote for the top player of the 2023 season

The winner will be recognized with the upcoming publication of this year’s All-South Mississippi Team.

You can vote as many times as you like until the poll closes at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6. The poll is not scientific, and you can vote again by simply refreshing the page.

Get to know the nominees for the fan’s vote Sun Herald softball player of the year here and vote below:

  • Bree Phillips, East Central: The junior led her team with 52 hits and 42 runs and one was one of the top power hitters on the Coast with seven home runs and 12 doubles.

  • Gracie McDonald, Ocean Springs: McDonald followed up an impressive freshman season with a monster sophomore campaign, batting .622 with 51 hits and 42 runs.

  • Cailey Pervel, Pearl River Central: The PRCC commit slashed .400/.466/.693 as a junior with six homer runs and 10 doubles.

  • Teegan DeWitt, Hancock: The two-way talent had another strong year, batting .453 with 34 hits while also striking out 191 batters and working a 1.13 ERA from the circle.

  • Karley Rouse, D’Iberville: Rouse also impressed from both the batter’s box and the circle, batting .446 with 37 hits plus 91 strikeouts and a 2.98 ERA.

  • Brooklynn Montana, Gulfport: The senior Jones College commit was one of the top sluggers in South MS, picking up five home runs, 16 doubles and nine triples among her 39 hits.

  • Carolina Batson, Stone: Batson was a force at the plate, batting .500 with 35 hits. She also struck out 76 batters and worked a 2.66 ERA in 65.2 innings.

  • Irina Sanford, George County: Sanford was one of the most productive batters in the region, slashing .528/.600/.811 with 56 hits, 14 doubles and 47 runs scored.

  • Brooklyn Rhodes, Vancleave: The Mississippi University for Women commit picked up 46 hits as a junior with a slash line of .451/.533/.676.

  • Elizabeth Colson, St. Patrick: Colson led the Lady Irish with 40 hits and 38 runs scored with 24 RBIs.
