Motorcyclist who died in Modesto crash identified as Oakdale man

A motorcyclist who died in a collision in Modesto on Tuesday has been identified as an Oakdale man.

The crash occurred around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Coffee Road and Morris Avenue, just north of Scenic Drive.

The motorcyclist was southbound on Coffee and collided with a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a woman who’d been northbound on Coffee and was attempting to turn west onto Morris, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear.

The motorcyclist, identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as 31-year-old James Harris, was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries. He was a father of five, according to his daughter.

Bear did not know if anyone in the SUV was injured.
