A mother was found dead on New Year’s Day after falling out of bed, it has been reported.

Michelle Clougherty, 40, was found dead after falling to the floor at her home in Glasgow, the Daily Record said.

She was found by her husband, Alan, also 40, and their daughter Mia, nine.

The couple, from Partick, Glasgow, had been together for 22 years.

A JustGiving page has been set up by family friend Caroline McLaggan to help raise money for funeral costs.

The page reads: “On New Year’s Day of 2020, a close family friend Alan Clougherty walked in to his bedroom with 9-year-old daughter Mia to find his beloved wife and mother of his child lying lifeless.

“Michelle had fallen out of the family bed after an early night and it is believed that she sustained injuries that led to her tragic death.”

June MacAulay, whose mother is a resident in the care unit where Mrs Clougherty worked, told the Daily Record she was “the nicest person you could ever meet”.

She added: “She had a heart of gold.”

Police told the Daily Record there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
