More rain ahead for Bradenton area before Memorial Day. Here’s what forecasters say
Consider packing an umbrella and checking your weather app if you plan on being out and about over Memorial Day weekend.
“We currently have a drop of low pressure across the state that’s going to allow for really high rain chances Thursday and Friday,” National Weather Service Tampa Bay Meteorologist Jennifer Hubbard told the Bradenton Herald on Thursday.
Rain and thunderstorms are again expected in Bradenton late Thursday afternoon and night as the low-pressure system hangs around. Additional rain is expected into early Friday morning.
“We got an 80% chance of rain, and thunderstorms are going to be strong, but we’re not really expecting severe storms,” Hubbard said.
There could be some small hail and some gusty winds of 40-50 mph overnight Thursday, and weather conditions are expected to be the same Friday.
Conditions could improve slightly by Saturday, but rain is still expected.
“It’s going to be drying out, but there’s still a 20-30% chance of rain on Saturday,” Hubbard said.
The weather should, however, get better right before Memorial Day, with sunny and clear skies expected by Sunday and on the holiday.
“Sunday and Monday it should be pretty dry and temperatures will generally be high in the mid-80s and lows in the mid-60s,” Hubbard said.
