Mooseheads' Nathan MacKinnon out with lower-body injury

The Halifax Mooseheads announced on Monday that forward Nathan MacKinnon will miss out at least a week after injuring his lower body during a game against the Moncton Wildcats last Friday.

Mooseheads general manager Cam Russell said the player will be out 1-2 weeks.

The 17-year-old from Cole Harbour, N.S., has 28 goals and 41 assists in 41 games with Halifax this season.

MacKinnon, who is often compared to NHL superstar Sidney Crosby, went to Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota, the same prep school the Pittsburgh Penguins captain attended.
