Mookie Betts earns free tacos for all with stolen base at World Series

Mookie Betts led off for the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday night at Fenway Park, and easily singled into center.

While standing on first base, Betts turned his mind to his next goal: Stealing second base and earning free tacos for all of America.

OK, he probably wasn’t thinking about the second part.

Betts capitalized on the first part, though. He stole second on the very next pitch.

And thanks to Taco Bell’s “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” campaign, Betts’ stolen base earned a free taco for everyone in America.

Taco Bell offers up free Doritos Locos Tacos for everyone in America if a player from either team in the World Series can steal a base in any game of the seven-game series. It’s a fan favorite promotion that has been going on for years.

The free tacos will be available on Nov. 1 from 2-6 p.m. local time across the country. If you can’t clear your schedule for the all-important taco event, you can order it online ahead of time.

Regardless of how the series turns out, Betts has joined an elite class of “Taco Heroes.”

Thankfully for us, though, it happened in the first inning.
