A few months after publicly demurring over the COVID-19 vaccine, Mookie Betts is pushing for the shot in downtown Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Dodgers star made an appearance at a grocery store on Tuesday to encourage people to get vaccinated:

"Just trying to get everyone to understand we need to get the world back to normal and it starts with this," Betts said.

That stance is a bit of a change from where Betts was when the season began. As the conversation around player vaccinations increased in volume, Betts declined to say if he was vaccinated and told reporters that the decision should stay in the clubhouse. He wasn't alone on the team.

From Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register:

“I think we kind of keep those things in the clubhouse,” Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts said when asked about the vaccine recently.

“These are all personal decisions for guys. They’ve got to do what’s best for them and their families. Obviously, we are all a team. But that vaccination, that whole situation is a personal decision. So I’d like to leave it in the clubhouse.”

Betts obviously hasn't addressed how he feels about his teammates getting vaccinated now, though the Dodgers have since reached the highly important 85 percent vaccinated threshold.
