The Montreal Canadiens saluted longtime Montreal Expos outfielder Tim Raines on Wednesday, following the announcement that Raines had made the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Raines spent his best years with the Expos, where he was a seven-time All-Star and led the National League in stolen bases four times. He was also the National League batting champion in 1986. Overall, Raines played a total of 13 years with the Expos.

Raines made the Hall of Fame with 86.0 percent of the vote from the Baseball Writers Association of America. It was Raines’ 10th and final year on the ballot.

During their Wednesday home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Canadiens gave a video tribute to Raines at the first TV timeout.

The Habs also tweeted out their congratulations towards Raines shortly after it was announced he had made the Hall.

The Expos moved from Montreal to Washington D.C. after the 2004 Major League Baseball season and then became the Nationals.

Since then the Canadiens have tried to carry on much of the Expos’ legacy. There is a banner in the Belle Centre honoring the Expos’ retired numbers, and the Habs adopted Youppi!, the former Expos mascot, as the Canadiens’ official mascot.

Jeff Bagwell and Ivan Rodriguez were also elected to the Hall of Fame.
