Amy Montenegro proved that it is indeed possible to win a fight despite being choked unconscious.

It just takes perfect timing and a horribly incompetent referee.

The stars aligned at Invicta 21 on Saturday when Celine Haga locked in a rear-naked choke on Montenegro in the dying seconds of their three-round fight. When the final bell rang, the referee jumped in to separate the fighters only to realize Montenegro was out cold – something he somehow missed despite looking directly at her from a foot away.

The fight went to the scorecard and the judges scored it 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 in favour of Montenegro, who admitted afterwards that she was a little cloudy on how the bout ended.

It was a fitting end for a fighter nicknamed “The Resurrection.”
