Minnesota’s mascot will be prominently featured on the team’s helmets Saturday vs. Middle Tennessee State.
Goldy the Gopher’s face will be on the side of the helmets. And they look great.

Minnesota’s helmets with the M logo are pretty classic, though we wouldn’t mind if these helmets work their way into a regular rotation. College football needs more helmets with oversize mascot heads on them.
Quarterback Conor Rhoda will be Minnesota’s starting quarterback vs. the Blue Raiders on Saturday. Rhoda had been sharing time with Demry Croft, but coach P.J. Fleck said the job is now Rhoda’s after the team’s 48-14 win vs. Oregon State. Rhoda threw Minnesota’s only eight passes of the game and completed seven of them for 158 yards and a touchdown.
Tuesday, Fleck said Croft is taking some time away from the team and it had nothing to do with the quarterback decision. Croft won’t be with the team on Saturday.
“He is dealing with some personal issues that are way, way more important than football, so it’s my job as a head football coach to get him what he needs,” Fleck said via the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “We are going to help him any way we can. I’m not going to get into that, in respect to his privacy and his personal life.”
