Miesha Tate Tries to Rebound Against Raquel Pennington at UFC 205

Miesha Tate Announces Her Retirement at UFC 205

Former women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate will try to bounce back against Raquel Pennington in her first fight since losing the title, when she returns at UFC 205 on Nov. 12. UFC officials confirmed the bout to ESPN.com on Friday.

Tate (18-6) captured the women's 135-pound title at UFC 196 in March, defeating Holly Holm by rear-naked choke. She lost the title to Amanda Nunes in her first title defense at UFC 200 in July. “Cupcake” hopes to rebound when she faces eighth-ranked Pennington at Madison Square Garden.

Pennington (8-5) is riding a three-fight winning streak. She last fought at UFC 202 on Aug. 20, defeating Elizabeth Phillips by unanimous decision. “Rocky” plans to keep her winning streak alive in the biggest fight of her career against the former champion.

UFC 205 takes place on Nov. 12. It's the inaugural event for the Las Vegas-based fight promotion in New York City.
