Reports: Michigan QB Wilton Speight has broken collarbone (Update)

Jim Harbaugh said Monday that Michigan quarterback Wilton Speight will be a game-time decision for Saturday’s game against Indiana, but multiple outlets are reporting that the quarterback’s injury is more serious than Harbaugh let on.

Per MGoBlog.com and The Detroit Free-Press, Speight suffered a broken collarbone during UM’s shocking loss to Iowa on Saturday night. Those reports indicate Speight is unlikely to return for UM’s final two regular season games. MGoBlog is reporting that he could potentially return for a bowl game.

Speight had a hard landing on his non-throwing shoulder late in the second half, but finished the game.

“I’ve felt better, but I’m all right,” Speight said after the game.

During Monday’s press conference, Harbaugh said he would be in contact with team doctors to see how Speight progresses this week. In the meantime, seniors John O’Korn and Shane Morris will get the majority of the reps during practice.

O’Korn, a transfer from Houston, started for the 2013 season and half of the 2014 season for the Cougars. At UH, he threw for 4,068 yards, 34 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Morris has appeared in 11 games during his Michigan career and has 434 passing yards.

Speight has started every game for the Wolverines this season. He’s completed 160 of 257 passes for 2,156 yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions.
