Michael McDonald vs. John Lineker Takes UFC Fight Night 91 Co-Main Event Slot

McDonald vs. Lineker Elevated to UFC Fight Night 91 Main Event

Bantamweight contenders Michael McDonald and John Lineker will square off in the UFC Fight Night 91 co-main event on July 13 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

UFC officials announced the bout earlier this week.

A former title challenger, McDonald (17-3) returned to the Octagon in January following two years on the sidelines dealing with several injuries that required surgery. He hadn't skipped a beat, submitting Masanori Kanehara via rear-naked choke in the second round of their UFC 195 bout.

He'll see if his return to form holds in July when the UFC makes its South Dakota debut.

After several years of struggling with the flyweight weight cut, Lineker (27-7) has won back-to-back bouts at bantamweight coming into this fight. He submitted Francisco Rivera in his UFC 135-pound debut in September, and followed that with a unanimous-decision victory over Rob Font recently at the record-setting UFC 198 event in Curitiba, Brazil.

The winner of McDonald vs. Lineker is sure to be near the top of the list of upcoming bantamweight title challengers.

Lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Michael Chiesa collide in the UFC Fight Night 91 main event, which will air live on FOX Sports 1.
