Miami Marlins Podcast: Trade deadline recap, Pablo Lopez, playing the young guys

The Miami Marlins’ record at this point isn’t needed but for record’s sake, it’s 49-59, 10 games under .500.

There are 54 games left in the season, two months of contests left to play before going into another playoff-less postseason.

At this point, the priority is clear: The Miami Marlins need to find out who they have on their roster, start evaluating now so they can have a better chance for their judgments calls in the future.

And for their part, they have done that. The likes of JJ Bleday, Peyton Burdick, Charles Leblanc and Lewin Diaz are on the big league roster. The young-yet-talented rotation is almost at full strength with the returns of Edward Cabrera and Jesus Luzardo, as well.

On the latest episode of Fish Bytes, Miami Herald Marlins beat writer Jordan McPherson and deputy sports editor Andre Fernandez dive into this as well as recapping the trade deadline and the Marlins decision to keep Pablo Lopez.
