Miami Hurricanes land commitment from three-star edge rusher, flipping him from NC State
The Miami Hurricanes remain hot on the recruiting trail.
Their latest commitment: Three-star edge rusher Mykah Newton, who announced his verbal pledge on Friday.
Newton, out of Newberry High, was previously committed to NC State.
“THE UUUUUUUU,” Newton posted on his X account announcing the decision, followed by alternating green and orange hearts. “A Dream Come True-I’m Coming to the U! Let’s not talk about it let’s just work and win!”
The Hurricanes now have 21 commits in their 2025 recruiting class. Seven of those 21 have committed over the past two months, including Las Vegas Bishop Gorman offensive lineman Seuseu Alofaituli, Bradenton IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix, Jacksonville Mandarin athlete Hylton Stubbs, New Iberia (Louisiana) Westgate cornerback Jaboree Antoine, Phenix City (Alabama) Central wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw and Chaminade-Madonna defensive lineman Donta Simpson.
Newton is the second edge rusher in Miami’s 2025 class, joining three-star Herbert Scroggins.
